This research starts from the interest in investigating the meaning of the window in relation to the intimate space and the inhabitant. It is paradoxical to speak that the window is made to respond to the basic needs of the human being (light and air), when in architectural practice, the window has not been designed to serve the human essence in its sense of living in the intimate space ; that is to say, in materialistic contemporaneity, when speaking of the window in architecture, only its functional and aesthetic characteristics are displayed, seen as the challenges to which the architect must respond, being unable to allude to the meanings that the window can have for the inhabitant as part of their being and their identity.
The intention of this research is to contribute to a greater awareness of the links between space, the human being and their way of living; resignify the element to generate a report in architectural thinking when planning and thinking about the intimate space of the house.
In this sense, a critical review of related and latent cases will be carried out in contemporaneity, to understand the qualities of the window: scale, proportion, location, orientation; that will be valued with their meanings in the domestic space and with the inhabitant.
